STrengthening the Reporting of OBservational studies in Epidemiology: Molecular Epidemiology STROBE-ME.

Published online on 24 October.2011

The Strengthening the Reporting of Observational studies in Epidemiology: Molecular Epidemiology (STROBE-ME) guidelnes have been simultaneously published in several journals: the Journal of Epidemiology & Community Health, PLoS Medicine, European Journal of Epidemiology, European Journal of Clinical Investigation, Preventive Medicine, the Journal of Clinical Epidemiology and Mutagenesis.

STROBE ME is an official extension of the STROBE Statement, it implements 9 existing items of the STROBE Statement and provides 17 additional items related to molecular epidemiology.

The authors hope that STROBE-ME will help to uphold reseachers' ethical duties and responsibilties, such as accurately, completely, and transparently reporting findings in sufficient detail to allow the scientific community to assess their strenghts and weakness, make fair comparisons, and clearly interpret the findings.
